18 year old Mike MacDonald might not have his license or be able to purchase alcohol in most of North America but that didn’t stop him from winning $1.4 million dollars in a high stakes Texas Hold’em poker tournament at a German casino this past weekend.
Mike MacDonald better known as “Timex” in online poker circles has only been playing professional poker for less than six months. Mike turned 18 in September and has been living out of a suitcase since then, traveling to London, Prague, Macau, Aruba and back again chasing his dream.
After four days of playing a very calm and deliberate poker game McDonald reached the final table. During the last hand of the night he held Ace King facing German veteran Andreas Gulunay, he waited for Gulunay to make a mistake. Gulunay was relentless during this hand as he bluffed again and again, upping the pot to over 1.4 million, but luck was on the side of young Mr. MacDonald when the board showed two more Kings and Gulunay was all in, Mike called and showed his Ace King causing Gulunay to muck his cards and conceit defeat to the young Canadian.
Congratulation Mike “Timex” MacDonald, Community Gaming News looks forward to seeing more from this rising star in the future.
