World Poker Tour - North American Poker Championship - Day 2

Day 2 of the World Poker Tour’s North American Poker Championship has drawn to a close.

A total of 504 players entered the tournament, each contributing their $10,000 buy-in to generate a prize pool of almost $5 Million. First place in this event will take down an impressive $1,361,724!

Only 232 players remained in the tournament as Day 2 got under way, the first day of play in which all remaining players in the tournament were seated at the same time.

Titan Poker will be staging nine super satellites to the 2008 Aussie Millions in Melbourne.

Titan Poker will be staging nine super satellites to the 2008 Aussie Millions in Melbourne. Prize packages worth $13,000 will be up for grabs on Fridays at 8.30 p.m. (GMT), starting Nov. 9.

One Aussie Millions satellite per week will be held at Titan Poker, with the last one being played Jan. 4.

The prize packages available will include buy-in for the 2008 Aussie Millions, cash for flights and spending money and an eight-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne.

Minor qualifying tournaments with buy-ins starting at $2 are already up and running at Titan Poker.

The 2008 Aussie Millions will be played Jan. 13-21 at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne.

In 2007, Danish superstar Gus Hansen won the tournament and took home $1.5 million in prize money.

Online poker is finally seeing some encouraging trends. The reopening of Doyle’s Room is one positive step in the direction of reversing the UIGEA and, according to a notable pro, could be a foreshadowing of things to come.

Norway wants to be free of Internet Gambling

Minister for Culture and Church Affairs Trond Giske has drafted a law that is very similar to the USA’s Prohibition-style Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which prevents financial institutions (banks, credit card companies) from making transfers to foreign gaming companies. Giske tried to ban slot machines in 2006.
