German Online Poker Pro Claims $1,500 PLO8 Title at WSOP

At a final table highlighted by eight-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel, it was a 21-year-old German online poker phenom who rose to the occassion. Martin Klaser built up momentum and charged through the Event 43, $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better, final table to grab the gold bracelet and $216,211.

Klaser entered the day third in chips, just slightly behind Seidel and chip leader Jon Maren. Once the ball started rolling, it was Klaser and Casey Kastle who could be credited with every elimination at the final table. Kastle knocked out four players, including Seidel. Klaser took care of the other three, clearing the table for heads-up play.

Foxwoods Resort Casino lays off 200 employees

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) _ The tribe that owns the Foxwoods Resort Casino says nearly 200 employees have been laid off.

A spokeswoman for the Mashantucket Pequots says the layoffs of middle-managers and some hourly employees are part of what she calls a strategic organizational review process begun in January.

The job cuts are believed to be the first in the casino’s 16-year history. Foxwoods employs about 10,000 people at its casinos.
