August 26, 2008
According to a survey performed by the Consumers Defense and Orientation
Association (ADOC), released by Agipronews agency, each Italian citizen spends an
average of 600 euros a year playing poker in Internet, which represents a total of 350
million euros.
The same survey revealed that near two million Italian citizens have participated at
least once in a game of chance in Internet, and one fourth of them usually play in
specialized sites abroad. The release of ADOC study was performed at the same moment

Gambling may become an addiction,” comments ADOC in a press release in which he analyzes
the results of the pool.
Paul Hornung Plays Blackjack for Charity
August 26, 2008
Some football greats hit the blackjack tables to raise money for some of their comrades who did not hit the NFL jackpot.
Lombardi-era Packers halfback Paul Hornung was among several former football stars playing blackjack in New Buffalo, Indiana, for an event hosted by the group “Gridiron Greats.”
It raises money for other retired NFL players who now need it to afford surgery or just pay the rent.
Even with their past accomplishments — and the current riches of the NFL — Hornung and other legends say many who made the league what it is today are being left out.

This month, Online Gambling Insider has added a number of new online casino reviews to its site.
“Things were rather quiet in the first half of the year as far as the launch of new online casino was concerned” said Ryan D, the editor at Online Gambling Insider. “This slower pace was probably due to a number of factors such as a more mature industry as well as the impact of the UIGEA. Launching an online casino these days requires a lot of expertise and funding. Software providers have also become a lot more discerning when licensing new operators which is a very good thing.”
The latest online casinos that launched are licensed by a variety of the leading software providers, and have something to offer for players from most parts of the world, including the USA.

Clear Deal Could Clean Up Blackjack Cheats In Casinos
August 25, 2008
Wesley Cooper is a PhD student from Trinity College in Dublin. The mathematician claims that he has developed the technology that will rid casinos around the world of blackjack cheats.
The technology is called Clear Deal, and it combines statistical analysis with an automated surveillance system to catch players at blackjack tables that are counting cards. The technology is currently being tested by an international casino operator.
“Blackjack is beatable if you have good maths brain. At the moment, casino surveillance staff have to watch the tables and try to identify suspicious play using their experience and instincts. This system does the same job automatically using computer-vision techniques and algorithms,” said Cooper.
The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering, and Technology has funded the system for Cooper, who believes that once the trial period for the technology is over, that casinos around the world will begin using the system.
