Poker room and dating site partner up

Singles wanting to make a love match now have Lady Luck on their side. Online poker room PKR.com and dating website Lovestruck.com have today announced a partnership to create a series of online and face-to-face poker nights especially for singles, starting this November.

The singles poker nights will kick off with a special poker party for PKR.com and Lovestruck.com members to meet, mingle and learn to play. The launch bash will be held on Thursday 6 November at London’s coolest new bar, The Hoxton Pony, 104-108 Curtain Road, London, EC2A 3AH. Read more

Sun Poker Room Review

Overview
Sun Poker is your typical online poker site. The room is part of the cryptologic network, which hosts a decent volume of players and offers usual variety of games. Sun Poker is a very bread and butter type of poker room, that does not offer many special or unique features. You will probably not be overly impressed by the room as a whole because it is so standard. The rooms most attractive feature is it’s sign-up bonus. With Sun Poker you can be sure that your money is safe with a reliable room.

Software
The software at Sun Poker is nothing special, although the table layout is very easy to use. A unique feature is the ability to turn on ‘Dealer Sound’ where a voice describes each stage of the hand, for example; “dealing flop”. However this may become annoying after a few hours of play but can be easily turned off in the options menu. One of the better aspects of the room is that it displays a pleasant background and table design, which makes it one of the more favorable skins on the network.

One very slight difference between Sun Poker and most other rooms is the sound of the chips moving when they are being placed into the pot. At most rooms there is a distinct difference between chips moving in on a raise and chips moving in on a call. However at Sun Poker the sounds are the exactly the same.

Traffic
Sun Poker is part of the Canadian Cryptologic network, so it shares its players with other poker rooms on the same network such as InterPoker and William Hill. The volume of traffic is decent, but not overwhelming.

Competition
As already mentioned, the room receives a playable amount of traffic. You should not have any trouble finding a game at any time of the day, although the Omaha and Stud tables can be a little dead at times. However, if you are a pure Holdem player it will be easy to get a game at the limit or no limit tables, especially at the low to medium stakes.

Support
Sun Poker has a good customer support service, offering a email and phone service to its customers. There is currently no live-chat feature available, which is quickly becoming industry standard. However, all emails are responded to quickly and with good accuracy.

Security
The SunPoker.com software uses the latest in 128-bit encryption technology ensuring that your transactions are completely secure.

PKR Poker Room Review

Overview
PKR is the future of online poker. It is the first room to provide 3D graphics for the players to enhance the online experience. This PKR review aims to provide you with a critical review of one of the most technologically advanced poker rooms on the market. PKR is very new, but it appears to have successfully created a reliable poker room that will only expand as time goes on. PKR is probably not the best place to put your money if you are looking to make easy money playing poker, but it is well worth a look if you want to try something a little different. It should be noted that real money play is available at PKR.com and it is not just a type of computer game.

Software
PKR has interesting features such as the ability to customize your online character and choose how they act at the table. Without doubt the room is a cut above the rest when it comes to graphics, as the software makes you feel more involved in the game than any other in the industry. But because of the high quality software, the room will use up a fair amount of system resources whilst you play. This does not mean that you require a top-of-the-range computer to play, but the software may slow down if your computer a few years old.

Player Traffic
At the moment the site does have a respectable volume of players, but no where near as much as the more established rooms in the industry. However, due to the unique experience that PKR provides is is safe to assume that this will not last long and the numbers will rapidly increase with time.

Competition
Due to the small amount of players, the room does not currently have a lot of bad players. Although, a very important point to remember is that because of the nature of the program, the room will be a breeding ground for poor players. This is because the majority of players at PKR will be there for the experience and to have fun, which could prove to be very profitable for the experienced players looking to build their bankrolls at the expense of their opponent’s entertainment.

Support
PKR has a solid customer support team that has to deal with frequent queries and questions from its customers. Their email service is good, but it can take up to 2 or 3 hours before receiving a response. PKR also has a very handy live-chat feature that allows you to directly speak with a customer support team member via a messaging program.

Security
PKR’s payment processing center uses the highest levels of SSL data encryption to ensure the security and privacy of your data. They keep your personal and transactional data secure at all times and never share or sell your data to third parties, except in accordance with our privacy policy.

Bertrand “Elky” Grospillier is the Winner of the WPT 2008 Festa al Lago

Elky goes on a super aggressive tear and runs over all players to win the 2008 Festa al Lago

Bertrand “Elky” Grospillier is the winner of the WPT 2008 Festa al Lago, and he did it playing fearless poker during the whole tournament but this was highlighted at the final table were he continuously punished his opponents with hyper aggressive play and pushing his chip stack in the middle time and time again. His willingness to risk large sums of his chip stack with any two cards made Elky the official executioner of the table as he eliminated all five opponents to win the tournament.

William Mietz was the first player eliminated from the final table. Meitz had been playing against Gropellier for several hours prior to the final table and commented on Elky’s play as “super aggressive”. Mietz tried to push back on what proved to be his last hand, when he pushed all in holding K - 10 and the board was paired and nine high. Elky had no problem calling him even though he only held ace high but with no help for Mietz on the turn or river Mietz was sent to the rail with a $186,510 payday and Elky extended his chip lead over the rest of the field. Day Five 2008 WPT Festa al Lago

Finally the Curse of the Chip Leader has been lifted

New surrounding for the final 12 players yesterday as the action moved from the Fontana Lounge to the Bellagio Poker Room, where some of the biggest and most famous cash games are played. Elky Grospellier had to have the curse on his mind at the start of the day as he worked at getting through the other 11 players and claiming the $1.4 million dollar first prize.

Even with the short handed play of six players at each table the paly was slow and steady as all the players started the day with similar chips stacks and lots to work with. The first elimination did not come until two hours into play when Andrew Robl was sent packing by Joe Sebok. And it would take another tow hours before Jimmy Tran’s pocket kings were defeated by the set of Queens of William Mietz. Can Grospellier defeat the chip leader curse that has hung over the entire WPT Festa al Lago tournament? So far everytime the person with the chip lead ending the previous day has been eliminated the very next day at the Festa al Lago being held in the beautiful Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

The Day 1 chip leader Antonio Esfandiari finished the day with a massive chip stack of 313,000, good enough for a 100,000 thousand chip lead over the next closest opponent, but Day 2 proved to be a disaster for “The Magician” as the only trick he could pull off was watching his chip stack dwindle. Then a hand against Daniel Negreanu crippled Antonio and the end to his tournament was only a few hands away.

Canadian Poker Star Daniel Negreanu was the new chip leader at the end of Day 2 but when a cooler hit the board, Daniel’s AK vs. 77 of Ryan Fair and the board flopped A - K - 7 Daniel had Ryan all in but with no Ace or King on the Turn or River Daniel was now short stacked and eliminated a short time later. Ryan Fair Is The Chip Leader Heading Into Day 4 Of The Festa al Lago, But Does He Want It?

It was another shocking day to be the chip leader at the WPT’s Festa al Lago. On day two it was Antonio Esfandiari with a massive chip lead that was crippled by Day 3 chip leader Daniel Negreanu and then yesterday Ryan Fair returned the favor to Daniel.

In an interview with Amanda Leatherman early in the day Negreanu said “I was thinking about the day before — Antonio. And then like his thought’s were coming true Negreanu found himself in a hand against Ryan Fair.

Daniel holding AK sees a flop of A - K - 7 and leads in with a bet of 22,000 into a pot of 55,000. Ryan Fair then makes a double the pot raise of 160,000. Negreanu was visibly confused with this bet and even questions Ryan aloud “Why so much?”. After thinking about it for a few minutes Negreanu decides to move all and is insta called by Fair who is holding 7 - 7 and has bottom set. The board fails to bring another ace or king and the former chip leader is dropped to the bottom of the leader board with only 98,000 in chips.

Only 50 minutes later it was the end of Negreanu’s day and another fellow Canadian who was on top of the leader board when the day started in Jennifer Tilly. Negreanu and Ted Lawson busted out on the same hand and Jennifer Tilly who had started her final hand on another table all busted at the same time and will share the 50th place money.

The eliminations were not done there as fifteen more players were eliminated from the tournament including Doyle Brunson, David Chiu and Beth Shak. The day started with 104 players but by the end of day three only 34 remain.

Two Canadian players are still in the top ten and both are experienced professionals in Nenad Medic in 5th overall and Brad “Yukon” Booth in 8th place.

Action resumes later today at 12:00pm PT where the battle will continue until the final six players remain. Be sure to check back tomorrow as we will update you with the results for the tournament and are Canadian players.
