888 Holdings Q1 operating income up 41 pct; says growth continues in Q2 UPDATE

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Online gaming firm 888 Holdings Plc. said its first quarter operating income was up 41 percent to $66 million with net gaming revenue (NGR) up 38 percent to $64 million compared with the year ago period.
During the first 32 days of the second quarter, daily average group NGR increased 7 percent, combined casino and poker NGR increased 2 percent and first time depositors increased 19 percent, in each case, compared to the daily average in the first quarter of 2008.
