Texas Hold ‘Em poker sessions a safe bet - without money
The growing popularity of Texas Hold ‘Em poker is evident at licensed restaurants in Northumberland County, at Ontario casinos and on television. Some area people play twice a week for points, enjoying a meal or drinks, but without betting money.
To bet using money, or where people or the venue gets a share of the pot, is illegal outside a licensed casino.
Texas Hold ‘Em is a game of skill that some say is mildly addictive. The game is described on Wikipedia, an Internet encyclopedia, as “Hold ‘Em is a community card game where each player may use any combination of the five community cards and the player’s own two hole cards to make a poker hand. (This is) in contrast to poker variants like stud or draw where each player holds a separate, individual hand.”

Calvin Ayre Announces He Is To Leave Bodog
The founder of Bodog Entertainment Group, Calvin Ayre, has announced that he is walking away from the company in order to focus on charitable works through the Calvin Ayre Foundation.
The 47-year-old Canadian made the announcement earlier this week on his blog at CalvinAyreLife.com after reportedly not being involved in day-to-day operations for the Antigua-based online gambling operator for several years.

Youths prefer Web betting
Young adults - a key growth sector for Canada’s gambling industry - are very interested in such “technology driven” options as online gambling, which is not yet legal in Canada, an industry conference heard yesterday.
Citing a national survey, pollster Allan Gregg told the 2008 Canadian Gaming Summit under way in Montreal that one- third of Canadians say they are gambling less than they did three years ago, while those under 35 years of age are more likely to be gambling more.

Canadian Glen Chorny wins over C$3 million at poker tournament
Canadian Glen Chorny scored a huge payday with his first European Poker Tour victory since becoming a full-time poker professional four months ago.
The 22-year-old native of Timmins, Ont., earned 2.02 million euros (C$3.21 million) for winning the EPT’s Grand Final on Thursday. Chorny defeated Denes Kalo of Hungary in the final at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. Kalo took home 1.18 million euros (C$1.87 million) for finishing second.

More than 1,200 members of Canada’s gaming industry are expected to converge on Montreal over the next three days (April 29-May 1) to attend the Canadian Gaming Summit.

I must applaud Prime Minister Bruce Golding for the smart moved he has made in legalising casino gambling in Jamaica.
