The November 9
October 6, 2008
For now all is quiet in the WSOP the final nine players have been determined and now we must wait for November 9th to see who will win the biggest prize in poker, not to mention over $9 million dollars.
The final table has been dubbed the November 9 due to Harrah’s new marketing strategy that has the final delayed until November 9th to give time to the media to get to know the players and provide more marketing support to the WSOP. This also gives time for the players to develop strategy’s and negotiate sponsorship deals.
Canada is well represented at this years World Series of Poker Main Event with two Canadian poker players, they are professional Scott Montgomery and amateur Darus Suharto.
Russian player Ivan Demidov already set a record by being the poker player to ever reach the final table at the main event in both the WSOP Europe and WSOP held in Las Vegas. Ivan managed to hold onto a third place finish in London and his confidence is riding high. Read more

After Day Three Only 24 Remain With Daniel Negreanu Sitting In Second
October 1, 2008
362 people started the World Series of Poker Main Event and only 24 remain after day three. The chip leader is internet phoneme Justin “BoostedJ” Smith with over 650 thousand in chips, the question remains if the internet player can hold his composure in a field of poker superstars and win this tournament?
Canadian Poker Superstar Daniel Negreanu is second in chips with 610 thousand and in the hunt for his second WSOP bracelet. If daniel wins this one he win get a $200,000 dollar bonus from Phil Ivey for a bracelet bet they have going to the end of the WSOP Europe.
Rounding out the top three is John Juanda with 580 thousand in chips. Always in contention John is a feared professional that other pro’s are not happy to see at the final table. This is a great group for the top three but there are many other notable players left in the filed including:
Brian “sbrugby” Townsned
Andy Bloch
Mike Matusow
Erik Seidel
Johnny Lodden
Brandon Adams
Scott Fischman
All the remaining players are guaranteed 29 thousand pounds for getting this far. Those who make it to the final table are guaranteed at least 81 thousand pounds. Third place will take home 335 thousand pounds, second gets 534 thousand pounds and the winner will take a massive 869 thousand pounds.
There is a huge amount of talent left in this tournament and the final two days should be filled with some great poker action.
Bloch Sits Atop World Series of Poker Europe Main Event Leaderboard
September 30, 2008
By the close of Day 1B, many World Series of Poker Europe Main Event participants turned their attention to Justin “BoostedJ” Smith and Daniel Negreanu, who occupied the top two spots in the chip counts after leading each of their respective Day 1’s. By the time Day 2 fired up, the announcment of the prize pool seemed to turn the focus to the task at hand.
After the second of two Day 1 flights had wrapped, just 179 players still had a place in the chip counts. When it was announced that the GBP 3,630,000 ($6,540,630 USD) prize pool would be only handed out to 36 players, players began to make their move.
Both “BoostedJ” and Negreanu bagged more chips than the night before. While they won’t be looking down at the rest of the field, they each managed to sit above the 200,000 chip mark, which is good for 8th and 9th-place, respectively.
Today was a big day for the Americans. To start day three, the four biggest stacks will sit in front of players from across the pond, while only two of the top ten chip stacks hail from outside the U.S. The biggest stack belongs to the overdue Andy Bloch. Nobody has appeared at as many WSOP final tables as Bloch without a win. He’ll enter Day 3 as the only player in the 300,000 club. Right behind bloch is online phenom Brian “sbrugby” Townsend. “sbrugby” accrued most of his chips after flopping a set of aces and taking a 250,000 pot away from a player married to his A-K.
