NetPlay buys Sky channel to launch Blackjack game
May 12, 2008
Interactive TV gaming group NetPlay TV has bought another Sky channel on which it plans to broadcast “Live Blackjack”.
Subject to Sky Broadcasting approval, the company has acquired Sky channel 848 from Hollywood TV for £475,000. The consideration will be satisfied through the issue of 2.375m new NetPlay ordinary shares.
The new channel is adjacent to NetPlay’s current Sky channel, 847, and will be used to launch the company’s “Live Blackjack” offering by the end of this month.
“Blackjack is the most popular game in traditional casinos and as such it was a natural progression for us to launch a ‘live’ TV version of this popular game,” said NetPlay’s chairman and chief executive, Martin Higginson.
Sky recently decided to impose a moratorium on the launch of new channels.
