Peppermill Hotel Casino

The Peppermill Hotel Casino is located in southwest Reno, Nevada, owned by Peppermill Casinos Inc.

History

In 1971, two life-long friends, Bill Paganetti and Nat Carasali purchased a small coffee shop and lounge on what was then the southern outskirts of Reno.

In 1979 two other men Tom and Albert Seeno joined the Peppermill team to form what is now know as Peppermill Casinos, Inc. with other properties now in Las Vegas, Henderson and West Wendover.
Together, they launched the first expansion to the original Reno restaurant in 1981 - it included a small casino and some motor units. A year later they added more casino space and a modest three-story hotel building.

• 1983 - Added the first Island Buffet; 6,000 feet of convention space and the casino was expanded to 9,000 square feet (800 m²).
• 1986 - Ground breaking was begun for a $65 million expansion.
• 1987 - Grand opening of the new 15-story tower, expanded casino, convention space and a new restaurant, Le Moulin.
• 1992 - Expansion to the north brings casino square footage to 36,000; adds the International Food Court restaurant and the Forest Pub Lounge.
• 1994 - 24 old motor units were demolished to make room for further expansion.
• 1995 - Groundbreaking for a $70 million expansion that adds 475 new tower rooms, increasing the room count to 1,070. A three-story building moved to west end of property make room for more expansion.
• 1996 - Expansion completed and included: New lobby and VIP services area; three new restaurants open: the White Orchid, the Steak House, and Café Espresso. Le Moulin was closed. Also added a year round mountain-themed pool and spa. Convention space was enlarged to 30,000 square feet (3,000 m²). In addition, the first 4,200-square- foot super suite, the Roman Suite was opened.
• 1997 - A second super suite is added, the Safari Suite.
• 1999 - Groundbreaking for a $65 million expansion that included two new restaurants, the Romanza Ristorante Italiano and the new Island Buffet; a second 10,000-square-foot (1,000 m²) ballroom to boost convention space to 40,000 square feet (4,000 m²), casino expansion with video cube, a high limits slot area and lounge and new sports book, poker room expansion, and what, to date, is the largest marquee in northern Nevada. In addition came a fountain and light show along South Virginia Street.
• 2004 - Opening of the new Oceano restaurant.
• 2005 - Groundbreaking on Peppermill’s new $270 million expansion that will include a new 17 story all-suite hotel tower, a 65,000-square-foot (6,000 m²) convention and entertainment center, a 1,600 space parking plaza, a spa and salon, a 21,000-square-foot (2,000 m²) casino expansion, and new restaurants and bars, including a 10,000-square-foot (1,000 m²) nightclub.
